Mr. Nelson has worked on dozens of film and television shows throughout
the United States and Europe. His credits include Director for the History
Channel, Discovery, NBC, A&E, ABC, Bravo, and the Food Network.
In 2005, Mr. Nelson was awarded the Texas Filmmaker Award at the Academy
Award Qualifying AFI Dallas Film Festival for his short film Raccoon.
The film was selected to some of the top festival in the world: Aspen
ShortsFest, Montreal International Film Festival, and Palm Springs Film
Festival. The film completed its festival run with the award for Best
Short Film at the Memphis IndieFest and was acquired for distribution
by the Film Festival Collection.
In 2006, Mr. Nelson directed, wrote, and produced 20 episodes of A&E’s
highly successful show Inked. In 2007, he teamed up again
with A&E to direct, write, and produce the critically praised Confessions
of a Matchmaker.
Mr. Nelson just completed directing a two-hour documentary, Stealing
Lincoln’s Body, for the History Channel. It aired to
critical acclaim on Lincoln’s 200th birthday celebration in
February 2009.
Currently, Mr. Nelson is in development on the feature length documentary The
Tunnel. He is also developing his scripted feature, Lost
in the Sun, and plans to shoot it West Texas and New Mexico.
A graduate of Colgate University, Mr. Nelson lives in New York City
with his wife, Laura.
